Delta Opioid Taskforce Initiative (DOT-3)

The Delta Opioid Taskforce Initiative (DOT-3) is a substance abuse program intended to respond to the opioid crisis in the Delta. DOT-3 works alongside partner organizations to reduce opioid addiction, prevent overdose related deaths, and improve quality of life for community members affected by opioid use disorders. DHA and partners educate the public about evidence-based treatments for substance use and opioid use disorders (SUD and OUD), train health care providers how to identify and treat SUD/OUD, promote provider use of Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs, strengthen partnerships with law enforcement and first responders, and expand access to recovery support services. DOT-3’s mission is to connect community members affected by SUD/OUD to an extensive system of partners, agencies, and individuals to improve reduce the morbidity and mortality of SUD, including OUD, in rural communities of the Mississippi Delta.
