DHA

Tobacco Free Coalition

The Tobacco Free Coalition is DHA’s tobacco prevention and cessation program. Trained staff work directly with schools and community organizations to prevent youth tobacco use, reduce secondhand smoke exposure, promote tobacco cessation services, and eliminate tobacco related disparities. Several chronic diseases prevalent in the Delta such as obesity, asthma, hypertension, and diabetes have been linked closely to tobacco use; therefore, teaching students the role tobacco plays in chronic illnesses underscores the ultimate goal of DHA’s tobacco cessation program: long-term improvements to health outcomes.
