Supporting Local Mississippi Delta Families During and After Pregnancy
Delta Home Visiting Initiative (DHVI) a pregnant mother & maternity support network for Mississippi Delta local families, providing home visits, educational resources, and more for mothers, children, and families in the Mississippi Delta. This support is for expecting mothers and their families during and after pregnancy through a collection of programs. DHVI addresses infant mortality and poor maternal and infant health outcomes in Delta counties with disproportionately high rates of infant mortality. By regularly visiting participants’ homes and through constant communication, DHVI programs are attentive to the needs of mothers, children, and their families and provide educational resources to help families stay healthy. Programs falling under the DHVI umbrella include Healthy Start Collaborative, Delta Dads, Delta Doulas, and the Delta Breastfeeding Coalition.
We address and prevent poor health outcomes for mothers and infants by:
- Regularly visiting your home
- Providing constant communication
- Providing educational resources
- Connecting families to healthcare resources
- Helping families stay healthy
