Mississippi RIVER
Mississippi Recognizing Important Vaccine Education and Resources (RIVER) is a community health program that increases health literacy and raises awareness about COVID-19 in Delta communities. The original Mississippi RIVER program was borne out of the need to address vaccine hesitancy in the state and successfully increased vaccination rates in the service area relative to similar regions. Mississippi RIVER now focuses on health education and improving health outcomes related to COVID-19 and other health issues in communities of color through the work of Community Health Literacy Navigators. RIVER also works in K-12 schools and community colleges to educate students, parents, and school staff about vaccine efficacy and periodically hosts vaccination drives in the communities we serve.
