Delta Health Alliance is one of just 17 organizations around the country working in tandem with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, a special office of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Resources, to identify cutting edge solutions to chronic health problems. The program is called Beacon and in Mississippi we are focusing on ways to reduce the incidence of diabetes and improve the care of people who have this disease. The physicians and clinics in Leflore County and surrounding areas who are our partners are using the latest technology to perform the examinations, track medications, and chart patient progress. These professionals are reducing hospital readmissions, improving care, and saving money. Patients are recording better cholesterol and blood sugar levels, losing weight, and getting healthier.
