PRESS RELEASE: Delta Health Alliance aims to keep families warm during the winter season

DHA’s Social Services holds 1st annual Coat Drive/ Giveaway

Indianola, MS —Delta Health Alliance (DHA) wants to spread warmth to children and adults in need with its first annual Coat Drive/ Giveaway. Indianola Promise Community, Deer Creek Promise Community, and Leflore Promise Community are collaborating to provide a helping hand during the winter season. Currently, 19.4 percent of Mississippians and nearly 28 percent of children live in poverty, according to the US Census Bureau.

“Providing coats to the community will ensure that children and adults are warm during this winter season,” Social Services Program Manager Cassandra Rule said. “It’s a simple way to identify families needing services.”

DHA aims to collect a total of 250 coats. Those looking to contribute to the coat drive can call Social Services Program Manager Cassandra Rule at 662-390-6929 or email rcrule@deltahealthalliance.org. They can also call Social Service Coordinator Aaron Sherrod at 662-390-7014 or email asherrod@deltahealthalliance.org for drop-off locations of new or gently used coats until November 28, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.

“We welcome non-profits, businesses, fraternities, sororities, churches, civic organizations, government affiliates, philanthropists, and others to join us to provide these communities with warmth and love during this special time of year,” Rule said.
