PRESS RELEASE: Delta Health Alliance has Highest Participation in Annual Neighborhood Survey

Indianola, MS —Delta Health Alliance (DHA) and its Indianola Promise Community (IPC) team would like to thank the Indianola community for a successful Neighborhood Survey. Survey teams of DHA staff and community workers completed 493 surveys, the highest number obtained in its 10-year history. Survey teams canvassed the Indianola community, going door to door over six days in November 2022. This annual Neighborhood Survey provides IPC with invaluable information regarding the needs and goals of families in the community.

“Most importantly, these surveys are a chance for our communities to be heard and to actively participate in the continual shaping of programs in their neighborhoods,” said Delta Health Alliance CEO and President Karen Matthews, Ph.D. “At the same time, they will enable DHA to achieve our core mission of improving the health and education of the men, women, and children who make the Mississippi Delta their home. The annual Neighborhood Survey could not be completed without the help of community workers.”

Three-time community worker Erika Curtis said she is proud to have been a part of DHA’s efforts. “The IPC annual survey provides a better opportunity for our community,” Curtis said. “I have learned to reach out more, meet people, work, and improve our community for better opportunities. IPC is a great place that loves improving things in our community. I feel it’s important to help others for better jobs, schools, early education, health and wellness, youth empowerment, and opportunities.”
